Midwest Book Review November, 2002
There just aren't that many good books available that showcase the
joys of life and the value of enduring memories when a loved one is
irrevocably removed from our lives. Mark Holofcener has clearly written
just such a combination memoir and memorial in "Evan's Earthly
Adventure". Mark shares with us his poignant experiences as the
father of Evan Holofcener -- a young man who vigorously lived his
life to the full, was popular with peers and in his community, who
had a wealth of abilities, was blessed with an outstanding intellect,
and whose untimely death only served to emphasize and underscore the
contributions he made in the lives of those around him while he was
with them. Not the least of which was Evan's ability to bring into
the lives of friends, family, and neighbors an indelible awareness
of all that the world has to offer, as seen through the prism of his
own point of view. Evan's Earthly Adventures is personally rewarding
and highly recommended reading, especially for anyone seeking a fresh
and inspiring perspective on what their own lives and relationships
have to offer them. |
